Doré, Gustave (-Paul)
(6 ene. 1832, Estrasburgo, Francia–23 ene. 1883, París).

Grabador francés. En 1847 se fue a París y comenzó a producir caricaturas litográficas para un semanario y varios álbumes de litografías (1847–54). Adquirió fama y gran popularidad con sus ilustraciones de libros con xilografía. Entre las más finas se encuentran las ilustraciones del Infierno de Dante (1861) y la Biblia (1866). Su vívida obra se caracteriza por sus imágenes de lo grotesco y lo fantástico. Realizó más de 90 libros ilustrados, usando alrededor de 40 tacos.
